Description

If you are still searching for the perfect scone, look no farther. Add both butter and buttermilk to our Original Recipe Scone Mix, and you create buttermilk scones that are truly something special. Each scone bakes up with a crunchy exterior and a light and tender interior. “Plain” they only need butter and jam (or lemon curd and clotted cream) to be your new favorite breakfast treat.

There are two things that make this scone mix and these scones even more noteworthy. First, it is the perfect ‘base’ mix and dough. You can add fruits, nuts, spices, cheeses, or purees to the dough to create any flavor you can imagine. We list the directions for several of our favorite flavor variations on our Recipes page. Included in that list are scone flavors such as Cinnamon Streusel, Blueberry and Goat Cheese, and Lemon Ricotta, to name just a few.

Second, you can freeze the scone dough and then bake as needed. Freeze the dough as individual, pre-cut, ready-to-bake scones. When you want to bake, preheat your oven and then take the dough from the freezer. Place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and bake. It only adds 3-4 minutes to the total baking time. Flavor variations, and a conversion to vegan scones, can be found here.

  1. Oooohhhh boy, THIS IS – THE – BEST – SCONE – EVER! Trust me, this woman is a “scone savant” or, “scone whisperer” whatever you prefer! Ha. But, seriously folks…. I have searched the country over for the perfect scone …(and, I’m NOT exageratting either!!! I mean LITERALLY i’ve tried hundreds.) We all know the drill, 9 out of 10 scones are just “not” that great. Most are BAD. Soooooo….we took matters into our own hands and we TRIED AND TRIED to make them at home….we failed. We quit! Done! Then, I bumped into Victorian House Scones at a bakery. When I took my first bite, it was like a movie scene……I taste scone…..clouds opened….. angelic music starts to play….wind blows what little hair I have left. I say to myself…. “By golly, THIS IS IT! THIS IS IT. I FOUND GOLD IN THEM THRE HILLS!!! IT’S WHAT I have been looking for!” Some climb Everest. I search for the perfect scone. To each his own. So, i promptly found out where the bakery ordered from. (thankfully they were kind enough to tell me!!) I called Debbie the owner at Victorian House. SHE TOOK THE TIME TO WALK ME THROUGH EVERYTHING. (honestly, she makes is sooooo easy anyone can do it) Trust me! I watched her video – she personally taught me some tricks. Such as how to “freeze” rasberries if i want to add them and “how” to add them. MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE. And, voila’ – we naiiled it. I was so happy. My entire family was so happy. With all of the “awfulness” in the world, it’s so nice going to bed knowing at least I can enjoy a cup of coffee and a perfect scone in the morning. Thanks Debbie. Love and appreciation Rocky and family

  2. Muffins no more!! Actually, we will always serve muffins at our B&B, but it was time to do something different! Luckily we came across Debbie’s product line and scone makers we became! I really had no inclination to find a recipe, test it, etc., etc. so VH Scones came to the rescue. Debbie has been more than gracious and helpful if/when I’ve had questions and the web site tutorials are GREAT. We typically add blueberries to the original mix but will certainly be experimenting since this is such a great base. And last but not least, a guest from Great Britain, NO LIE, told us these were the best scones she’s ever had!!
